Following the OBE awarded to former United Synagogue President, Peter Sheldon, for his services to the Jewish community, Simon Hochhauser, President of the United Synagogue commented:

He has made a remarkable contribution across the Jewish community and he worked indefatigably throughout his six year stint as US President. We are all proud of his founding of Tribe- Young United Synagogue, as well as the work he did in bringing the United Synagogue into the 21st century. The support he gives to the Chief Rabbinate Trust is invaluable and we remain greatly appreciative of his expert advice and close friendship."
