Four communities unite for Bosworth Shabbaton

Event

Residential Shabbaton held jointly with the communities of Solihull, Leicester, Newcastle and Sheffield.

Objectives

To attract unaffiliated people to something Jewish. To strengthen the commitment of already existing members.

 Evaluation from Rabbi Pink

“We were able to bring together people from around the country most of whom had never experienced a proper Shabbat before. The biggest success was allowing the children to make new Jewish friends. It has enabled them to feel that Rabbonim are approachable, Judaism is meaningful and relevant.”

 Participant Feedback

  • I gained enormous satisfaction at the willingness of many ‘ordinary’ members of the community to participate in a collective learning experience. (Leicester member)
  • We have made some lovely friends and appreciated the fun side of Shabbat, my husband especially feels more connected and motivated to do more. (Childwall member)
  • It would be hard to compete with this Shabbaton. I hope to persuade my husband to attend other similar events. (Newcastle member)
  • What a wonderful initiative the Chief Rabbi has introduced. This is the fourth event that I have attended which has been part-funded by the Chief Rabbi’s CRE. Each one has been wonderfully uplifting in its own way. Thank you for enabling me and my community to take part in such events. (Solihull member)
