Chief Rabbi's Cabinet
Rabbi Yitzchok Rubin - Chairman Rabbinical Council of the Provinces
Resume Rabbi Yitzchok Reuven Rubin is American born. As a young child he became a close student of The Bobover Rebbe ZTL and was ordained by the Bobover Yeshiva. He soon became active in education, firstly as the Director of The Mesivta Beer Shmuel in Boro Park and later as the founding Head of Mosdos Chesed Yesroil, Americas first Yeshiva High School that was geared specifically for Strictly Orthodox adolescent boys who were learning or emotionally disabled. His interest in mental health led him to become elected the first chairman of the Miomonides Hospitals outpatient facility that was developed with the view of helping the growing Orthodox community of Boro Park. Rabbi Rubin then served as the Rav of a thriving Bais Medrash in Flatbush N.Y. for several years. All this was followed by a period of time where Rav Rubin moved to Eretz Yesroil and lived in the development town of Chatzor Haglilit, working for the Rabbonut of Kiryat Shemonah. It was the family's wish to live in Eretz Yesroil and help those who could gain from the vast experience that Rabbi Rubin had obtained. However after three years, at the instigation of the late Rebbe of Gere ZTL, Rabbi Rubin accepted the call from South Manchester England to become their Rav. This opened a whole new chapter in his life, one that is still ongoing with great success. South Manchester Synagogue has a rich history of over a century and a quarter, and Rabbi Rubin has served it for the past sixteen years. In the area of outreach, Rabbi Rubin has made his Shul into a beacon of light for hundreds of University students who become involved in Jewish life thru his vibrant and warm leadership. A powerful speaker, he enthralls audiences with his wit, humanity, and love of our faith. He has spoken throughout Europe and Britain and is often a featured speaker at various conferences. Rabbi Rubin is a prolific writer who is a weekly contributor to the Hamodia with his inspiring commentary on Tehillim called "The Rhythm Of The Heart" and The Jewish Tribune. Recently his book "A Rabbi's Journal" was published with positive reviews from many quarters. The community of South Manchester has begun building a new multi million pound centre, and Rabbi Rubin has been the driving influence behind this bold and innovative project. It is scheduled to open for Rosh Hashanah 2002. |
